Well, I intended to go to bed last night about 11:30, because I thought my boss was going to be in today, but it looks like I’m wrong.
That’s a good thing, because last night I sat up reading Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban until about 2:30 this morning. I’m not that tired, but it did yield some strange dreams.
This one starts out on the Quiddich field, for some reason I’m just standing out there in the gale like conditions of the Grim Defeat chapter of the book. Nothing happens, I’m just standing out there in sleet and freezing rain waiting for something to happen. For no apparent reason, the dream switches to yet another Price is Right dream, this one significantly different than all of the others.
Me and about 4 other people are standing in line to spin the wheel. We each take our turn, but for some reason the Big Wheel always gets stuck after about 1/4 of a turn regardless of how hard the initial effort of the spin was. After the four of us take our shots, Bob Barker is getting annoyed, and he opens up the side compartment next to the Wheel. “Ah,” he says, “looks like there’s something jammed in here.” He makes some effort into the axel of the Wheel and has us try again. Same thing happens again.
So now he’s getting annoyed. He tells us all to hang on, and runs in the back. After what seems like about ten minutes, he reappears and tells us that they have set up the replacement wheel. So we go in the back (where there is another studio audience, interestingly) and there is a large replacement wheel, the only noticable difference is that each of the squares is rimmed with strange, Glad-bag colored plastic all around.
The first few people get up to spin, and I notice that the prizes are quite strange… for starters, when the wheel is spun the colors move independently of the numbers for the prizes. That, and some of them flip over as they pass the little arrow indicator thingie. The first person won a pizza, the woman that went next won 310,000 dollars, the next woman won a diamond worth 70,000 dollars. I don’t know what I won, but I remember being mildly disappointed.
Well with my Price is Right dreams notwithstanding, this weekend was pretty great. I ended up getting home on Friday night after a work meeting got cancelled, but I was stuck Saturday helping my aunt haul bricks for her back yard. That also yielded learning the fact that our new golden retreiver puppy enjoys jumping headlong into swimming pools, and the fact that my back is much more fragile than it appears.
Aside from the soreness for the rest of the weekend, everything else went pretty well. Tasha is coming to visit later this week, which I am greatly looking forward to. Good times, hopefully more to come later.
