Well, I am pleased to say the Cubs won last night. I was really getting concerned when they blew the bases loaded with 0 outs in the fourth inning, but they pulled it out so I can’t complain that much. I mean, jeez, for as much as those guys are getting paid you’d think they could pinch hit a second stringer and have them step into a pitch to tie up the game.
Jason and I bowled last night, I posted an impressive 189 my first game, but crapped into the 130’s and 140’s for my next two games. It was fun.
Tomorrow I get to lecture to my CS 566 class to finish my independent study. I am looking forward to this, even though I am not sure how long my lecture will last. I get to talk about Advanced Java Network programming, so I get to have the obligitory this is how you make a socket, this is how you write to a socket talk/examples, and I have a demonstration so that can burn some time. It should be pretty fun.
Last night I seriously got to consider what I want to do with my career. I filled out an application to InstallShield in Schaumburg, and I’m planning on sending a resume’ to LightSky in Goshen, IN. LightSky is a web development studio that my boss is familiar with, she seems to think the environment over there is one I’d thrive in. They offer telecommuting sometimes, so that would be a good way to keep around here and still have a job I’m comfortable with. And there’s always the Caterpillar option, even though there’s not a lot of buzz coming yet. I got an email yesterday from my contact person, he’s after HR to get me a status report soon so I know where I stand.
The Big Career Fair is next week, I plan to go and bandy my resume’ around there and hope the companies start throwing money. We’ll see how that goes.
