This week has been interesting to say the least.
The first half of this week has been pretty mundane, spent working and going to class. On Thursday, I had to present some software that I created to the College of Education and Human Services advising staff so they could learn to use it for their students. That went incredibly well, I left the meeting feeling smart and useful.
After that, I decided to go back to work. My phone rings, and the number isn’t one of the ones in my address book. Thoughts immediately sprang to my LightSky contact, but I was surprised to find that the first place I interviewed with, Software Architects, wanted me back for a second interview. Since they are near Chicago, I asked that the interview be scheduled for later on in December so that I might have some time to get some other offers first, since the dynamic of the job (and the money) isn’t what I would’ve wanted from a career. He agreed, so my second interview is tentatively scheduled for December 15.
I went over to one of my friends from my bowling team’s office, and he said that he had gotten a reference check from LightSky. I was thrilled to hear this, and it rekindled hope that I would get a callback soon from them. Little did I know that my invitation to my second interview out there was waiting in my Inbox by then. They seemed quite eager to have me come out there, they want the second interview to take place before the end of November. I told them that I was available anytime, and all they had to do was let me know. I haven’t heard back from the man yet, but I’m seriously looking forward to that interview.
Today, I had a meeting with my boss about my Masters Project… things are going well, but we’re going to be down to the wire on this. I’m on a marathon coding binge for the rest of tonight so that I can make a quick trip to Pekin and then come back and hit it hard again on Sunday. I want to have primary programming on this thing done by Monday so I can focus on the display stuff and documentation in the last two weeks before I present. Then it’s relaxation time. Off to code!
