The Saga of the Floppy continues.
I made another attempt at getting the floppy drive installed and operational tonight. First attempt succeeded. I have no idea what I did differently, but it worked this time. My BIOS flash went without incident (thank God), but still no resolution on the ill-detected processor. After consulting the Internet, I might need to mess with the settings for my front side bus to make the system realize that I’ve got this processor. The problem lies now in the fact that AmiBIOS does not have an explicit setting for the front side bus.
I have contacted my motherboard manufacturer to see if they have any input that might help me.
In other nerd news tonight, I was able to restore life to my sisters fiance’s computer. The hard drive went in without incident and everything went just fine. The other drive is dead as a doornail; when I slaved it to restore data from it, it did not even spin up. So he’s SOL there. He’s just happy not to have a $600 paperweight.
Got the rehearsal dinner nailed down tonight, the menu is fried chicken and pork chops catered in from Village Inn in Minier. We’re going for something a little more casual, the location is the Pekin Pavillion. Should be fun. Tomorrow it’s wedding license and joint checking account day! I also get to see how much cashola I saved in the emergency fund! Hooray!
I did get about a week or more of contract work from WIU today, that is a relief. I have to go to Macomb sometime next week to get the specifics from the guy I’m working for. I might get to see some of my friends for awhile, which is always a great time. Still no word from Cat, I have decided to allow them until next Monday before I start bugging the crap out of them.
