Pretty ok movie.
It may have helped a little if I had any idea about the characters at all going into it, but it was set up well for new people to the storyline. The acting was pretty good for this type of movie, however it got mired down in special effects about halfway through.
That, and it didn’t help that it had a very Comic Book plot. One of those plots that you can see coming a mile away, but it doesn’t matter because you know who the hero is going to be. Plus I spent a great deal of time attempting to figure out if Abe Sapien was Data from Star Trek or David Hyde Pierce. Turns out it was neither, it was Doug Jones. Someone I’ve never heard of.
The theatre was almost empty… except for a few foreigners that were “whispering” in their foreign language far too loudly through most of the movie. That I could’ve done without. And we had really bad service at the Denny’s that we went to before the movie started. I could’ve about died when the waitress apologized to the table next to us because “her aunt was over there that she hasn’t seen in six months.” Last time I checked, you were at work, idiot. Do your job, talk to your family when you get off.
Some people. Arg.
