Yesterday I discontinued involvement in getting a rolled-steel replica of Uma Thurmond’s katana from Kill Bill. Part of me is slightly saddened by this, but the rest of me is happy not to be out $4500.
Tasha was very afraid that I would live to regret this about ten years down the road, and I am very sure that I won’t. You see, for $4500 I can buy laptops, new TV, new furniture, a new house, etc. All of those things are useful every day, whereas a razor-sharp katana will most likely never be useful every day. If I ever get to the point where a razor-sharp katana will be day-to-day useful, I probably won’t miss $4500 very much.
There will always be cool prop replicas coming down the pipe. In the meantime, I will enjoy my money, thank you very much.
