This weekend was really quite fun. I took advantage of my half-day on Friday to come home and upgrade the MythTV box. It is now running the most current build of the software that came out five days ago. I was also able to get VNC and SSH operational, so I can administrate my MythTV box from my other machine. This comes in handy when I don’t want to lug my keyboard and mouse across the plains to fix a problem.
Friday night we went to the Jukebox Comedy Club to see Pat Spring. I was looking forward to it because I love standup comedy, but I was unsure how Tasha would handle it. I was seriously afraid she was going to stroke out a few times from laughing so hard. Afterwards, Matt and Sarah came over to watch a bit of the MythTV with Tasha and I before they headed back homewards, rounding out a very fun evening.
Saturday I got up early in order to get a haircut from my sister. We were instructed to arrive at her beauty school early so we wouldn’t have to wait, so Tasha and I showed up at 9 am. I got my hair cut and Tasha got a manicure while she waited. I was more than a bit concerned about the proceedings; the last time my sister cut my hair it was very near to disaster. I can personally vouch for the abilities of her instructors, as she was able to give me a pleasing haircut with none of the telltale “oops”‘s that accompanied my last one.
Saturday night was D&D night, I decided that it being a holiday weekend that we should cook out. I got a chance to polish off a few beers while grilling 5d10 pounds of beef and miscellaneous meat products. I really love my new grill, I think we will be using it more frequently. Much food was ate by all, and much fun was had at D&D. Tasha surprised me by making me two battle boards from laminated posterboard! They rock! Unfortunately, the washable marker that we picked up to use on them was quite stubborn in actually washing off, but this should be rectified by either better cleaner or some plexiglass over the top of the actual battleboard.
My only complaint about the night was that I chubbed my “seamlessly make shit up” roll and I had to make our big bad guy run away because I didn’t want him destroying the party. Apparently, I gave them no other choice but to attack him immediately on sight. This affirms for me two things: I needed to have more for my crew to do, and I have made my bad guy sufficiently evil.
Sunday was consumed by much sleeping in and surviving a gigantic storm. The storm was bad enough that even I decided that it was time to make for the basement. The sky had that weird green color and you could see the clouds starting to go in circles in the sky, that was enough for me.
Monday wasn’t very exciting. Once again, I slept in. Tasha and I were supposed to go and visit her grandparents, but we elected to go over to my parents house and do laundry. I spent some of the time searching for my lost Xbox remote, in the end I decided to go and buy a Universal remote that could do the job. Laundry ate up most of the day, we got back home in time to watch an episode of Samurai Jack and then hit the hay.
