We rotated through the lower belts during first class with rapid-fire three time attack. For some reason my techniques felt as if they had nothing to them, but I still ended up in good shape.
Second class we did a lot of jyu-ippon and slow sparring, it was pretty uneventful except for the lower ranks being instructed to press in with attacks. I was with
My center is still not what it needs to be, and I was beginning to wonder if I was on the right track at all, so I asked Sensei Hartman after class what he thought I could work on. He confirmed that my center was a problem, and that I was overextending my techniques. This makes a lot of sense as to why I couldn’t get any lock out of the things I was trying to do. He also suggested that I needed to work on getting around to the sides and behind the attacks, and keeping pressed in myself. I’m going to work on this stuff and hope that it continues to come together.
He also complimented me on my roundhouse kicks, something that I had been working on but I thought still looked mostly like crap. I’m glad at least something I’m doing looks right. 🙂 I’m already looking forward to next week!
