An unfortunate incident occurred this weekend regarding everyone’s favorite Vorpal Rabbit, Java Joe.
We have given Joe full reign of the kitchen and he was happily running around there on Sunday night. We had elected to file his teeth down and play with him on the couch, which we did without too much incident. Tasha scooped him up to put him back on the ground, however, he got skittish at about knee level and wriggled away from her.
He hit the ground head first pretty hard, then I heard one of the worst sounds you can hear: the dreaded corn-kernel hitting the floor sound of broken teeth. We picked him up quickly and noticed his lower incisors were broken off at the jaw.
They were bleeding slightly, but he appeared to be in pretty good shape. After consulting with
It appeared that Joe was happy to eat treats and drink a little, so we decided to let him go until the next morning. We woke up and saw that his carrot bowl was partly empty, and he had drank more water and ate more food.
On closer inspection, his gums appear to be in fine shape. He seems like it may be a bit sore, as he doesn’t want anyone messing with his mouth. Tasha and I have agreed that we will just watch him for a few days and hope we see teeth starting to poke up soon.
It was scary for awhile and Tasha felt really bad, but I think our rabbit pal will be just fine.
