Today is our casual Friday for the month… most of my team took it literally and are out of the office. I’m in jeans and a long sleeved shirt and loving it! Keeping in the theme, I felt it necessary to take a few minutes from my morning and update my blog for the last few days.
On Wednesday, I was at work a little late and proceeded directly to Mapleton to help judge a rank test. This test has been covered at length in other blogs, suffice it to say it was a rousing success. I was especially proud of one of our Pekin red belts, this kid put everything into this test and it showed. Now if we could only muzzle his mom we’d be in good shape. I can’t speak for him, but I felt it rather strange to be the only black belts on the board with Sensei Brewer and
My family (parents, sister + fiance, and Tasha) went to go see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Eastlight Theatre. I’ve gotta say, this was significantly more fun than I expected it to be. The cast was pretty good… the guy that was playing Joseph was pretty talented, but he lacked the emotion to really sell the role. The company was pretty good; the girl that was playing the Narrator was quite obviously a sorority girl of questionable ethics. She even went so far as to thank “her Kappas” in her little bio paragraph in the program. She was still a pretty good singer either way.
I can’t say I would run to the theatre to see something like this again, but I have a feeling we’ll be going a lot more next year, as Tasha wants to see three out of the four shows, and the fourth show looks interesting to me. It was a pretty fun night.
We went back to the house and decided to trim the tree a little, we got extreme amounts of light put on that thing and Tasha got her faeries put on the tree. I hung a few ornaments, but mostly concerned myself with hanging the lights. We were able to pile up some Christmas presents around the tree and it was looking quite festive by the end of the night. I love Christmas, it’s still a little weird that we’re on our own this year.
After work tonight, I get to go and help my dad re-run his phone line. That’s right, that’s exactly what I wanted to do with my Friday night but that’s OK, he needs my help. One of these days I will get an evening or two in a row to sit down and do nothing. Actually, that’s really all I want for Christmas this year. 😛
