On Children in the Dojo, Part 2…

Last night I ran into on Yahoo IM, and he offered some pretty good insight into the whole Dojo and Kids debate that has been going on lately. First off, he asked me if I was done venting. I’m sure part of this was venting, but part of it was a definite legitimate concern. So, yes, I think the venting part is done.

He also reassured me that knocking the kids around a little to get them to do what they should is what we should be doing. He also said just to keep at it, because these kids have attention spans roughly equivalent to ferrets (it may have been some other woodland creature, but it was still equivalently as funny).

He also pointed out that both and myself take these little annoyances far too seriously, and we should probably just not worry about it so much. Matt and I have had several conversations lately where we fully accept the fact that we can both tend on the Drama Queen side of things in any given situation, but unfortunately that’s just the way we deal with stuff. At least it has been for as long as I’ve known him, I’m sure he will say the same for me.

Most of the last conversation was “SOMETHING BROKE MUST FIX” ingrained response. After some more reflection, I don’t think it’s really as big of a deal as we’ve made it out to be. I just think some more knocking around of the kids in the dojo may be warranted.
