I figured out why my MythTV was misbehaving finally… it was nothing wrong with the video drivers at all. It turns out that when I did the distribution upgrade it upgraded the gnome-sessions thing that loads my MythTV frontend when the system is rebooted.
It also loads itself at the same priority, and when the video starts it redraws the screen. Both of the frontend and this app think they need to be drawn at the same time, and it equates to the black screen. At least in the short term, all I have to do is make sure the Myth frontend has the focus when the system is restarted and everything works flawlessly. I got caught up on the Simpsons tonight and I am super-pleased with the new version.
The new version of MythWeb is the tits too… I can stream video from my Myth box to wherever I am with a plugin. Maybe one of these weekends I will install it and try it out. 🙂
