I got a call about twenty minutes before I left work from
It seems his son was sick and he thought he had to stay home with him… but his wife volunteered so he could come to Karate. So I got to work out and much fun was had by all.
I got the opportunity to spar with my Dad for the first time since he came back to the dojo. It was alot of fun… he’s still every bit as strong as he used to be, however I am faster than I was when he last sparred me. He is still able to perform his Iron Fist blocks like he could before… he struck my punch right on the nerve center on the inside of my elbow and it really smarted.
McCabe and I did some slow sparring between classes… it’s weird how we can read each when we spar now. He sees my kicks before I do them, I see his punches before he does them. We’re having to get inventive now, which is a good thing.
The second class was a bunch of katas all rolled up into a Cluster of Death. The black belts split off and did katas… all the Heians, all the Tekkis, and all four basic black belt katas twice. Then we got the chance to do our kata in front of the other brown and black belts and have them give a quick suggestion on what to do better.
