Since it was not obvious given my tone, I really did like this movie. It’s not going to be overly memorable, but I will add it to my collection when it comes out on DVD next week.
Keanu Reeves acting still blows. At least he’s given up the Neo “let’s do long division in my head” confused look for the time being.
Rachel Weisz needs to select bras to match the conditions of a wet shirt. Also, some Midol might help her out.
All in all, I felt this movie was carried by the good plot which is about all you can ask from something with Keanu Reeves in it. Good visuals, neat props, weird androgenous Gabriel (NOT the one from Xena, Warrior Princess)… appearances by both God (played by a good solid beam of light, a la The Simpsons) and the Devil (played by Peter Stormare?!?) make this one a mix between somewhat spot-on Catholicism and good clean DC comics fun.
This one will get added to the DVD collection to be placed right between The Matrix Triology and Dogma, because that’s basically where it belongs.
