Very quickly, I will provide the part of the review that I can without ruining it for anyone. This movie rocked. It was, in fact, the Star Wars movie everyone wanted in the first place and disappointment is barely in one’s vocabulary after watching this film.
The Jedi whoopass factor is about a 11.7 out of 10 in this one. It has far and away more action than the other two combined, in addition to the ultra lightsaber awesomeness.
General Grievous, who was slightly incapacitated at the end of the Clone Wars cartoon series, was still one of the baddest mofo’s on the block.
We went to the midnight showing of this thing, and the only part that was really REALLY bad was the whole “Anakin turns to the Dark Side at the hands of newly deformed Darth Sidious. The makeup they used on Dark Sidious was ridiculous, and they made him sound like he was burp-talking during most of his speech. It was somewhat funny, but there was a braying moron in the crowd that took his laughter far too loud and long for most people’s tastes, including
Aside from that and the somewhat wooden love scenes that George Lucas has become famous for, the film delivers on all fronts. Including a lightsaber duel climax the like of which has never been seen before. To say that Obi-Wan left Anakin for dead is quite the understatement… he was looking pretty rough like Gollum only without the limbs to scuttle around on.
Everything did dovetail nicely with Episode 4, including the revealation that Qui-Gon was the first to figure out that whole Jedi Ghost trick. That explains why Anakin, Yoda, and Obi-Wan are the only ones that have really learned how to pull it off. I was extremely satisfied with this film, and I will probably go see it again very soon. My cousin and I resolve to go in a few weeks when the theatres clear out so we can really enjoy it like we always do, but that’s not going to be long enough in this case.
