Tonight I decided to go work out in Mapleton since tomorrow night will be filled with viewing #2 of Revenge of the Sith.
I showed up about 10 minutes late, due to leaving work a bit later than I wanted to. It was just
I did so. I started out doing some simple lunge punches… I wanted the class to stay light on their feet. I decided to go rapid fire for awhile and run them up and down the floor with just single punches. I kind’ve wanted to build on the seed that Sensei Brewer had planted last night regarding multiple punches, so I had them do two lunge punches in succession. This went pretty well, so I ran them up and down the floor a few times this way.
Then we did the same, only we changed it to reverse punch. They were getting it pretty well, the yellow belts actually had better hand and foot coordination than some of the upper ranks. That’s a good sign. I decided to get them moving a little more and introduced sparring stance briefly. I wanted them to have the concept of moving a bit before going into their punches, so I had them shift around in place (including side to side) and then on the count fire into their reverse punch combination they had been working on.
It went relatively well! I was content for this amount of progress and since Sensei Hartman had mentioned that he wanted to do some kicking drills I handed things back over to him as not to overstay my welcome. We ended up doing some additional basics followed by some partner drills that I will leave him to describe if he so desires. It made me feel pretty good that he reiterated a few of the ideas that I had started with into the sparring drills. The tie-ins lead me to believe that I wasn’t completely off base.
Roughly 10 minutes into Sensei’s sparring class, my phone rang. It was Alagar, one of the members of the team at work. He was getting pages from CWI that he didn’t know how to respond to. I was slightly alarmed because it was the same message that had lead to the 18 hours of goodness a few weeks back, so I took off after the first class was complete in order to investigate.
I’m glad I did. Turns out my system was doing something bad again, but this time my scripts caught it and let us know before it got too bad. It only took me two hours to get things cleaned up this time. I’m really getting sick of this support stuff.
