I believe that tonight marks the final stages of major rework to The Bedroom Project. I got home late from work tonight (around 6 pm) and proceeded to jump right into getting the light switch replaced with my X10 enabled light switch. To non-nerds: it lets me turn off my bedroom light with a remote control from bed. No clapping, nothing retarded like that. Plus it grants my bedroom overhead the ability to dim on command.
To do this, I first had to isolate the circuit that turns off the upstairs electricity. After about my seventh trip up and down the stairs, I just decided to screw the whole thing and turn off one entire side of my circuit breaker in order to not have to take the stairs again. I had to take two stabs and wriing the switch because my fingers weren’t working so well. That, and these magic light switches are equipped with an on/off tab for installation, and I forgot to switch it to ON.
I knew I had to go out to Wal-Mart to return the curtain rings that didn’t work out, so I decided to stop into Hobby Lobby again. My original plan was to get a shadow box and fill it with small momentos of our relationship, however when I realized that a.) shadow boxes are expensive and b.) I really didn’t know what Tasha has sentimental attachment to (and therefore wouldn’t want me to glue it down into a shadow box) I decided it would be best to have that be something we do together. I decided to pick up some faux ivy to drape through the hooks that hold the canopy up, and I got some tiebacks for the canopy so I don’t have to loosely knot it like I have been for the past day.
After a quick return to Wal-Mart to get my money back, I stopped by Menards to pick up a few generic white light switch covers to match up with my X10 enabled switch. I also replaced the outlet covers, as they were ratty and ivory colored and looked terrible. When I got home, I found that the ivy was just long enough to drape from hook to hook and rim the top of the canopy.
I am so happy with the way that worked out I’m surprised if Tasha can’t suspect something is up simply by using the Force.
I have decided that time and motivation is not with me to actually replace the light fixture, that will also have to be something that Tasha and I do together. The only other thing I could do before she gets back on Wednesday is hang two small wall shelves that my Mom gave us before we moved in, but I’m not sure where to put them on the two bare walls that are still unoccupied.
I think I’m pretty content with my effort thus far.
