Today started as most Thursdays do… slow to wake. I have recently been getting to bed around 10:30 pm which has enabled me quite productive days once I am able to drag myself from slumber, but I still ended up getting into the office at the normal time today.
Not much email this morning, which is an abnormality in my office, however I did notice a few emails of praise from our customers which were subsequently echoed by my supervisor. That’s great, good press is good press. The boss elected to take the team out to dinner tonight to celebrate this recent bout of praise that we have been receiving, so she let us shave our day down to accomodate a 3:30 dinner meeting at Sully’s.
During said dinner, we swapped stories and had a pretty decent time. My good buddy and copilot Matt’s support phone started to ring, so I elected to field the call since I had to go back after my lunch bag anyway. The support issue didn’t take long to resolve, but it was still 6:35 by the time I left the office.
My sister’s wedding is Saturday, so I had to go and pick up my tux. She had us go to Men’s Warehouse up near Avanti’s and I have to say I’ve been extremely pleased with their service and professionalism. I plan to buy many new dress clothes there based solely on this fact. I’m pretty hard to please in this department, so they should be proud of themselves. I even told them directly how impressed I was, so they know it now.
By the time they did a quick alteration on my tux (jacket sleeves too long) it was 7:15 and I knew there was little hope of Karate tonight. I drove by the site of the recent Hicks Gas carnage, and it looks like their building got blew up and luckily their main tanks didn’t completely explode. If that tank would’ve gone up, that could’ve been a fair amount of dead people, so I suppose that’s fortunate.
And apparently some PETA folks got arrested for getting naked by our Administration building. Missed that one.
Either way, I got home and hung out with the wife for a few minutes before calling my sister to get my hair cut for the wedding this weekend. She couldn’t get it done until 10:00 tonight, so I just got back from that. In the end, it was a pretty full day. My lovely wife leaves for Kansas on Sunday, so I’ll be looking for some things to do while she’s gone.
More later!
