I am increasing my mad homeowner skills. On Sunday, I came home to find that my basement had once again accrued some water in the floor drain. It seems that the extra corrosion that lives in the drain fitting builds up and plugs the two small (less than 1/8″) openings on the cleanout plug that leads to the main line.
By removing the cap all the standing water wooshed right down the drain, so I think the solution will be two phases:
Phase One: get cleanout plug with bigger/more holes.
Phase Two: get something to take corrosion off of the drain fitting.
Also, I effectively diagnosed and ordered a replacement part for my vacuum, saving myself the $50 service fee at the local repair shop. I’m starting to get the hang of this stuff!!
