The part for my vacuum arrived early this week. I have been putting off actually making the fix amidst fears that I had wasted $25 on a part that wouldn’t work. You see, several weeks ago I burned out a belt while sweeping the stairs, and I was surprised to find that after replacing the belt the beater brush wouldn’t turn.
I took it out and attempted diagnosis. One end would turn, the other would not. This didn’t seem right at all, so I decided to look at the website for more information. Nothing aside from an ad for a local repair shop. “Screw this!” I said, and proceeded to the manufacturers online shop to see if they had replacement parts.
They did, so I ordered one. I figure it was either $25 for a part, or $50 for a visit to the repair shop. I made the swap out tonight, and I’m pleased to announce that I can once again banish dirt to the Land of Wind and Fog.
It is small accomplishments like this that are making adult life very entertaining. I never thought I would see the day when I enjoyed doing things like rewiring a light switch or fixing a vacuum. Pretty soon I can work my way up to that series of Time-Life books that teach you how to make spice racks or build your own deck or something.
