1. I rarely go to bed before midnight.
2. I have been to a Michael Bolton concert. (Don’t judge me, OK?)
3. I (not so) secretly love The O.C.
4. The only song that I can play on my guitar is “Blackbird” by The Beatles.
5. I enjoy long discussions about religion.
6. My favorite alcoholic drink is scotch, but more often I drink sake instead.
7. I have found a way to both love my job and despise parts of it at the same time.
8. I love Open Source Software, as long as it works. If it doesn’t work, I hate it.
9. I once drank 13 shots of Jagermeister and several beers in one night without throwing up.
10. I have two rabbits and a dog. The dog wants to eat the rabbits. The rabbits want yogurt chips.
11. I built my own MythTV. (Think TiVo only I don’t have to pay for mine.)
12. My wife is the coolest nerd woman I’ve ever met.
13. I get ridiculed at work for my ridiculously high Nerd Quiz Score.
14. I was deemed “honorary bouncer” at a bar in Macomb. My buddy was a bouncer and they were short staffed. He was in karate with me, so he asked me to help out. I got to break up a fight.
15. I have a fairly large collection of replica movie props. Most of which are sitting unceremoniously in a closet. The rest are proudly displayed in my basement.
16. I have two conjoined toes on my right foot.
17. The only people in my immediate family that have not been in karate are my mom and my brothers-in-law.
18. I participate in a weekly Dungeons and Dragons game with my fellow nerds. I am proud to be Dungeon Master.
19. For awhile in the late 90’s, I was a licensed developer for id Software. One of my modifications showed up on id Software’s Quake 2: Extremities Net Packs that was actually boxed up in stores for a good year and a half.
20. My dojo nickname is “The Rabid Chihuahua” or “El Chihuahua Rabioso” because of my gentle, laid back sparring style. In Macomb, Sensei Kuras hung the moniker “Buttercup” on me after he asked the class what a good name for a racehorse would be. Someone blurted out the name, and Sensei Kuras remembered it. Forever. I’m still rather conflicted about being proud of either of these.
