It’s 1:30 am. I’m babysitting my system in order to prove its worth. And I’m listening to Queen.
I’ve had the sneaking feeling that I am being made to suffer for having this bug when we went live last time. We ran this system against a copy of the production database for four days. The numbers looked good, we were actually improving on the ratio of the current production system. Could we just go live? HELL NO, we’ve gotta sit here and run reports every half hour until morning.
Then we are subjected to a “Go/No Go” meeting with our process partners, who will likely still not be satisfied and pick us apart with blatent disregard for the effort spent.
Between the two of us, Matt and I have spent 40 hours today. I got to work at 8:30 am, left the office at 8:30 pm. I grabbed dinner and got back on around 11:30 pm. Matt picks up for me again at 7:30 am. I’m fairly sure that my supervisor will have something to say about me claiming 20 hours in one 24 hour period.
More Bohemian Rhapsody for me, please.
