Tonight’s workout was spearheaded by Oedewaldt. It was great, there was a real spirit of comaraderie in the dojo tonight. We decided as a group (it was Mike-san’s idea) that we should split into groups so each section of lower belt ranks could get a little of basics, sparring, and kata. Dukes and I took the sparring group, it was pretty fun being able to teach at three different levels in one class.
The second class we decided to have an Open Swim style class. That meant more sparring for me. Mike-san and I went for awhile and then Matt and I went for awhile. Nothing spectacular to report aside from getting whopped by a few of Matt’s roundkicks.
For the end of class, we all got back together and did a round of the King of the Hill style sparring like we did a few weeks back. Oedewaldt was scoring points, there were several times that the rest of the crowd of mostly brown and black belt assisted him. 🙂 In the end, Dukes was the King of the Hill after a very long and spectacular match with Oedewaldt.
I beat Mike-san but got beat by Garls-san. Darned sneaky old men.
We were all surprised by the arrival of Kate-san from Bloomington right as class ended up. Apparently she was in town for Thanksgiving and wanted to drop in on us. She ended up joining Matt, Sarah, Tasha and I for dinner and it was a really good time.
