For quite awhile, Tasha and I have been discussing the prospect of getting a new TV to replace our current set. Last week, Tasha and I saw an ad that Shermans was running about $100 payments and 0% interest for the price of whatever you buy.
We figured there was a hitch, but nonetheless we decided to check it out. There wasn’t a hitch, so we decided on a 55″ Hitachi Cineform Plasma HDTV.
This thing is amazing. It does native 768p (1366×768 resolution) and the Cineform is designed to upsample signals to the 1080i/p signal when it becomes available. It has more hookups than I have ever seen, including all of the ones necessary for me to retool my MythTV for HD. The best part about it is that its 4-1/8″ thick and mounts on the wall, so that means goodbye ugly huge entertainment center!
It arrives on the 22nd, so the new year will bring many a movie night.
We came back tonight, and apparently 10 hours is too long for Teddy to wait. On top of that, we figure he was rather upset at us as he relieved himself on our bed. And in the foyer. So we spent the rest of the night at the laundromat to wash our comforter. We spent the rest of the evening paying attention to the dog, since he’s obviously feeling neglected.
It was a long, interesting night. We’re going to need some help getting this hulking entertainment center moved upstairs to clear the road for the new TV though… so if anyone has some spare time and needs an upper body workout let me know. 🙂
