This morning Dad and I were the only ones there at 8 am. Then the troops came rolling in about fifteen minutes later… most of them. We were joined by Dobbleaire-san and Sarah-san, probably since Thursdays workout was cancelled and we all needed our fix. I know I was ready to work out, and we got a pretty good one today.
We went through the purple->brown belt syllabus about three times over the span of the morning, with 10 Tekki Shodans in between. I liked doing this high intensity workout, it was tough given the general frozen nature of the room. I was feeling pretty good today, I got pressure in my ear for the first time since Thanksgiving. I’m still not going to push it too much but I am on the mend. We did some 3-5 and some slow sparring, Dobbleaire-san was really putting on a show. He was giving all of us black belts a hard time to one degree or another.
The purple belts looked good today. They’re all showing their nerves because of the upcoming test, but I think that they’re really starting to peak given all the effort that they’ve been putting in lately. With luck, we’ll have a pretty good week this week but its going to depend on how they perform on the day of the exam. They’ve still got their own personal battles to fight between now and then, but we all do and that doesn’t get any better once you’ve got a brown belt around your waist.
So it will be an interesting week. I look forward to seeing how things will go.
