Tomorrow my big screen TV arrives. The installation guys from Shermans are calling me after their first job starts at 8 o’clock. They suspect that will be near 10 am.
I told the guy on the phone that I had a finished basement and they may have some trouble running the cabling, he said that they’d look at it closer tomorrow. I wanted them to know in case the added complexity caused them to take longer, I hate being the last guy on the call-list for the day and I don’t want my house to be the reason the last person on the list tomorrow has to get the shaft.
I’m excited. This TV is going to be amazing. I’m going to get up tomorrow and move the current TV upstairs and disconnect the Xbox. My MythTV is going to go alongside the sideboard until I get get a low profile HTPC case for that system (or a lower sofa table to go under the TV). If the installation guys recommend the TV sit lower than the sideboard, I will have them move the sideboard and I will replace it with our coffee table. I think the TV will be fine above the sideboard though, unless they can offer a compelling reason against it.
The real battle is going to be fought on the MythTV front, but I will be putting that off for at least another week until after Christmas. I just hope that the new TV likes playing with the native resolution that Myth is living in right now. Otherwise, I may be logging a few hours trying to figure out the right modeline for this new set.
More tomorrow on this!
