After a long night (and early morning) at work, I spent tonight getting some rest around the homestead.
I took the opportunity to finish the MythTV upgrade, and I am pleased to report that all features that existed previously in MythTV now work better than ever. This version of MythTV has some GREAT stuff in it. Video editing works. The new rewrite for LiveTV makes it look as good as anything that comes in over standard cable. The frontend itself is faster and is now devoid of the strange oddities that plagued me while I used the old version of Myth on Fedora Core 2.
I no longer have the playback dropping to a black screen. I no longer have unexpected hangs during video playback. I haven’t tried DVD playback yet, but I think things are going to work out well.
I have some work to do to get MythWeb set back up, but it shouldn’t take me long. I haven’t tested or set up my dual tuner yet, as I don’t have a cable amplifier so I can’t split the signal to record multiples. But that will come soon too!
So I’m down to a 1 day turnaround time from clean installation of Fedora Core to fully featured MythTV. Huzzah!
