My MythTV continues to exhibit symptoms of overheating in the form of a random shutdowns like yesterday. I spent about an hour on the phone with one of my college buddies that knows hardware better than I, and he recommended rounded IDE cables (luckily, I had just purchased some) and some PCI port exhaust fans.
My corrective action was to install my IDE cables, order those extra fans, and see if things improve. If they don’t and my system runs reliably despite the heat, I can move the BIOS settings that inform the system to shut down due to heat to a higher level. I really would like to not do that if at all possible.
I also have a wire mesh looming kit that I have to install, but I want to rule out the power supply as a culprit before I actually go through the effort to sleeve it. So I’m withholding that to see if I can stabilize the temperature problems first.
The battle never seems to be won with this system.
