Laptop Awesomeness Assessment…

Holy crap, does this thing rock. I mean, seriously.

Multitasking with the Core Duo processor is unreal. I’ve had some good systems in the past, but nothing could get past certain tasks at the same time… copying large files, downloading large files, and running memory intensive applications are cake to this thing.

The Ultrasharp display is great, I’ve settled on 1280 x 800 resolution which provides a nice mix between screen real estate and readability of text.

And the only potential outlier… gaming performance. I’m going to sum it up like this: it can play Doom3 in High Quality mode. Granted, its on lower resolutions, but that game looks so good that it doesn’t even matter. If it can stomach this, I have no doubt it can run anything out there.

I’ve been playing Doom3 like a crazy man lately. This game makes me feel like I’m 12 again and I had to call so he could remind me what DOS command to run to make Doom2 play. The graphics are unreal, but the feeling is still very “Doom”. This makes me hopeful for Quake4.

In short, I’m very pleased with my purchase. If anyone is up for some mad laptop LAN party action the router at my house is always ready for more visitors.
