Tonight, Garls-san and Erbe-san took the class through a nice test preparation class. Meanwhile,
I got eight Sochin done before it was time for the test. It was nice to be able to get back into the kata… the brief break that I took really did me well. There were a few points that I need to look up… I’m going to use my newly acquired Osaka Sochin DVDs to determine what the appropriate transition to the high/low blocks are. There was some discussion as to whether the blocks draw with closed or open hands. I will post my findings a bit later.
The test went very well. There are a few areas that we need to work with the Mapleton crowd on, but everyone provided a great test. There’s not really much more to say than that. Congrats to everyone that pushed themselves to that next level. Its a hard thing to do, and it always feels good to be on the good side of a successful test! Some of the black belts were commenting about that after the exam… how good of a feeling it was to see Sensei pull the next belt out of the box when you pass. It is one of those things you miss, but don’t miss as you progress into the upper ranks. 🙂
