Tonight I was planning to get some pre-work done on my fence. I got a call from
When I started the class up there was only four students, so we started warming up by doing some easy basics (lunge punch and front kick). Then Sensei Brewer came in, and he took things over to continue working on a variety of basics.
We eased into some one time sparring drills, working on inward block and distance training. The second class was more drills along that same vein, this time using pressing blocks and multiple attacks. I need a little more work on inward block, I never really got “natural” with the basic version of that technique even though I use it in sparring all the time.
We finished up the class with Taikyoku Shodan, Heian Yondan, and Heian Godan. In all it was a nice casual class and it really helped my general demeanor to go. It really makes me feel better to train after a hard day at work, even though I may not feel like it on the onset.
No Sochin tonight, just some good “other karate stuff.”
