The Fourth of July comes, complete with scattered thunderstorms this morning. That means that we did not get any work done on the fence before our trip to visit my sister in Springfield. The party was a cookout and my first opportunity to see my sister’s new house. It is pretty nice and has an above ground pool that my young cousins were enjoying a lot.
After the party, we travelled back to Pekin. Teddy’s medicine is making him have to go to the bathroom every three to four hours, which makes our sleep schedules as if we had a newborn kid. Tasha and I have been taking turns letting him out overnight, so needless to say that we were both pretty tired today. Tasha decided to take a nap, and I decided to take a crack at working on the fence solo.
I got the small stretch of fence up on the south side of our house next to the rose bush. It is very difficult to balance untied chain link up along the fence while screwing the tension bands down. Especially considering these were the smaller brackets bent into shape. I was successful along that stretch, but I found that the bands that my brother-in-law had attempted to bend yesterday did not quite fit the bill along the back of the lot. I tried with no success to fix them, so I moved to hanging the double gates.
I found that I had plenty of hardware, but my motivation was flagging yet again. I also found that I needed some of the smaller carriage bolts and I didn’t want to use the longer ones since I needed them for the other gate too. I decided to finish here for the night so I could relax a little before the end of the long weekend.
I will be very happy that this will be finished soon. Hopefully Dad and I can make a run for the finish line tomorrow after we get off work.
