The past few days, I have been receiving the indistinct pleasures of the first cold of the season. I had been doing relatively well up until last Saturday, when I woke up with a sore throat. I attributed it to sleeping in a dry room with my mouth open (which happens), but by the time Monday and Tuesday rolled around and my sinuses started plugging up it was undeniable… I was getting sick.
This cold has been very treatable with over the counter stuff, which is not normal for my usual colds. Usually they progress into a sore throat that lasts several week and I end up at the doctor before it is all said and done. This one, though, has centered in my sinuses and has been treatable with Sudafed, Benadryl, and Airborne thus far.
I did ask about the approved procedure for having a sick day at work today… I’ve never had to take one yet and didn’t know how it was handled. Apparently, this same thing is going around my office and has already forced one of my team leads to take a sick day earlier in the week. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow, but right now I feel like a great deal of crap. I just took some Airborne, so maybe that will start to shake this thing.
