Goodbye, United Cutlery!

With mixed emotions, I would like to report that United Cutlery has entered into voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I am sad because much of my Lord of the Rings collection came from them and I am sad to see that they have lost the license as a term of the filing.

They are going to restructure to only selling pocketknives again, which means the end of production for the items in my collection. The silver lining is that the current asking price for everything in my collection has basically doubled to tripled in the last two weeks. That is good for the potential value of my collection, but bad because I will likely not be able to add any more items from U.C. to my collection unless I want to pay a premium to do so.

I found out about this two days after it happened, so I was able to snag one of the remaining pieces that I wanted to complete my basement at a very low price (so low I was concerned about being scammed) before the prices went up. It is sitting in my basement, I may hang it tomorrow night if the mood strikes me.

Thanks for all of the nice work, United. Sorry that this is the end of the road!
