Last night’s workout was a barn-burner. Dad and I showed up a few minutes late and got to witness a severe warm-up of 60 sit-ups, 30 push-ups, hovers, and various other fittings of pain.
The first class was very simply basics. Lots of them. In rapid fire succession. We even got some stance training in the form of one minute “burn-ins” to end each run of techniques. By the time it was done, everyone was very tired and sweaty even the little kids.
For the second class, we explored the old Shodan test combinations, with some tweaks for the black belts. I found that adding a reverse punch and jab to the end of the jab/reverse punch/kick combination helps to reset and cover after the kick. I’m going to start working on this as the new year unfolds, I think it is what I need to not end on a kick every time.
I think we’re going to go for an unofficial workout tonight in Mapleton, hopefully it won’t be quite so action packed.
