In addition to the aforementioned instructor training clinic, I was able to fire up the riding lawnmower that was left over from my grandparent’s move to Florida. After a few practice trips around the yard and me realizing that I had to drop the deck down with a lever that was not labeled appropriately, I was in business. Cutting my front yard only took me around 20 minutes, the back yard will be cut soon!
In addition to that, I was able to put around 200 rounds through my Walther P22 today. We got to the range and there were several guys around, one guy was monopolizing all of the close range targets so he could shoot cardboard people cutouts. Another guy was there shooting a .45, and the four of us that went together were relegated to shooting at the longer range targets. I didn’t do half-bad for the amount that I have shot this gun, my groups were relatively good. I still need to work on sighting in the gun a little better and working on my technique but it is coming along. Tonight I purchased a cheap laser sight to help me in my target practice. I’m pretty excited to get to try it.
After the cardboard cutout guy left, we moved over to the closer range targets and did just that. Unfortunately, our staple gun ran out of staples and our targets quickly got all used which made that effort somewhat harder. Hopefully we will do more of that, I really enjoy recreational shooting.
I am not looking forward to another work week, I really need a vacation. Hopefully we’ll get through this political bullsh!t that we’ve been dealing with lately and get on with actually doing something useful, but I’m not going to hold my breath. It has placed me in a decidedly sour mood and I need to work on getting that changed fast.
At least my supervisor is doing the right thing… he let us off an hour and a half early on Friday, but unfortunately I have been suffering from allergies that caused me to use all of that time sleeping off a headache and sinus pressure. I’ve been on Aleve Cold & Sinus for the weekend and it has helped marginally, however I am now blessed with a sore throat from all the drainage.
It’s a great time to be me, let me tell you.
