The wife and I decided to do something a little out of the ordinary for us this weekend and went to a Peoria Chiefs game, courtesy of the fine folks over at Nelson Chiropractic.
The last time I went to a Chiefs game, I was 13 or so. I had never been to the new stadium, even though I work two blocks from there. Plus there was the added bonus of getting to sit 10 rows behind one of my childhood baseball heroes, Ryne Sandberg. It was the first time that I’ve gotten to see one of my favorite players in person, as I never made it to Wrigley to see the Cubbies in action when I followed baseball closely. I still have never made it up there to see a game, I may have to remedy this just to say I’ve done it. I got a few grainy photos of Ryno on my cellphone, I’ll post them up when I get a chance.
The Chiefs won over the Beloit Snappers (where they come up with these names, I have no idea) by a margin of 6-4, however they almost had a Classic Cubs-style blowout by letting two men on in the ninth inning with one out left.
It was a lot of fun, I think the wife and I may buy a ticket pack so we can go back more often.
Tonight, I grilled out and my parents, sister, and brother-in-law came over to play the Wii. Aside from lightly singing my eyebrows/lashes when I was grilling, the night was a lot of fun. My Mom got Pro status in Bowling, surpassing my skill level by a longshot. Tasha and Dad are getting closer, I’m sure they’ll be there before too long.
I wish I had a longer weekend at this rate, it was a pretty darned good one. Back to work tomorrow though!
