Tonight’s workout was a good one to come back to… it was basics courtesy of Sensei Brewer. The first class was basics up and down the floor, focusing on the component pieces of each technique. For some reason my stomach was still bothering me from the weekend, and only on front kicks. In between classes, we met to discuss the new Kickapoo class. The teaching methods look like they are going to be really fun, it reminds me of a more formal version of the “Tiger Team” that they had at the Macomb dojo. Kids could do essays or extra training to get recognition, and it worked really well down there.
The second class was a study of reverse punch. It was very clear to me that my legs need some TLC and I need to get my stance bolted back in place again, my legs were burning like mad staying down in stance tonight. I was secretly hoping we’d spar a little because I felt like it tonight, but the basics were a much needed reminder how quickly one gets out of shape.
