So this past week I wore out the knees in my last pair of jeans (don’t worry, it was normal wear… nothing fun). We had a casual day at work on Halloween, and the post-karate food schedule dictates that I couldn’t get out to Wal-Mart to shop for new jeans until oh… midnight.
I checked my jeans size, 32 x 32, found a color that was passable for polite society and had a momentary decision whether or not I should try them on. I decided that I was tired and I didn’t want to try them on. Fast forward to Halloween morning: I got up late.
I threw on my new pair of jeans and headed to work. About halfway through the day, I was somewhat distraught to note that my jeans were snug in two places that they ought not be. “Oh, they’ll just loosen up” I thought, as I tolerated the discomfort for the rest of the day.
After two days of wearing the jeans, I had decided that they would not loosen up. I had to face facts, I needed bigger jeans for the first time in over a decade. I know that I don’t have much room to complain, as my physique has been described as “slight”, “sveldt”, and “like a stick-figure” but don’t tell me that you all don’t feel bad when your jeans don’t fit anymore.
So Wal-Mart provided two new pairs of 33 x 32 jeans and I am happy to report they are a much better fit. Hooray for new clothes!
