Last night I dreamt that I was attending a concert for my favorite indie band, Bell X1. This wasn’t any ordinary concert, it was taking place at my church and there was a big youth group conference or something going on there.
For reasons unknown, they were set up in front of the altar and the band members were taking turns cycling on and off of the stage playing songs. The non-playing band members had set up a series of card tables along the aisle where they were selling t-shirts, CDs, and talking and trading songs from different artists.
At one point, I was talking to this girl from the band, who asked me if I liked a certain other indie band. I said I hadn’t heard of them, so she gave me the CD. On my way back to the pew, I ended up behind the lead singer of Bell X1 who was heading up to play and I told him that Flame was one of the most transcendently awesome songs that I have heard in recent years.
I sat down and noticed that there was a playbill near the hymnals, so I took it out and read it. I remember that the lead singer had announced that he was going to play a song called “Death Knell for Shuggie”, which is similar, but not the same as “Faberge Falls for Shuggie” by of Montreal. I thought that was weird because it wasn’t even the right song, let alone THEIR song, but I figured it happened from time to time.
I went back to reading the playbill, where I saw that the band was listed with the following names:
Mr. Goooooodddddddd
Mrs. Gooooooooddddddddd
Todd Epstein
Bobbi McCarthy
Obviously, none of these names are correct, nor do I have any idea where the last two came from. At this point I woke up very confused.
I do know where some of this comes from though… this weekend we were at church for my niece’s baptism and I photographed a lot of the front of the church. Right before bed, I was reading that Bell X1 was going to play an intimate concert in New York City on Jan 16. When I was checking the site, it seems that the concert was sold out even though now it appears like I could buy tickets if I wanted to. I really don’t intend to go into New York City for the first time in January, so I may have to wait for them to play the States again or just go see them in Ireland sometime. 🙂
