I knew this weekend was going to go quickly, but here we are on Father’s Day and the weekend is gone. Part of this is due to me catching up on sleep finally, and the rest is due to having to work yesterday.
First off, Happy Father’s Day, Dad!!
We did make a stop by the local gaming shop on the way back from Menards Friday night, and the big guy that runs the place was there. We got to talking about the new edition of D&D that just came out, and I mentioned that I got my set online. He said “well, you probably paid too much” (they’re selling the three book set for $104). I said nope, I paid $57 for all three. He busted my butt for buying stuff online, and I told him that he had to be competitive with prices in order for me to make the call to buy from him.
He made the argument that without supporting local game shops you won’t have anywhere to play. I didn’t say this, but my argument would’ve been that most gamers have a basement that suits the purpose of gaming quite nicely.
I want to support this guy’s business, but it’s really hard when his prices are that much higher. Would I pay $10 bucks more, sure. $20, maybe. But $40+ more for the same books isn’t really do-able. I’m sure he gets that.
Ah well!
