Right before I left for work today, a man in a large truck delivered a yard and a half of brown dyed wood mulch onto my driveway. Tonight, I quickly got home from work and dove right in, and thanks to my across-the-street neighbor’s loan of a wheelbarrow I got most of the way done tonight.
My efforts were punctuated by two hours of karate, which forced me to finish my work as night was falling. I got most of the mulch put down, saving one wheelbarrow full for making things more even tomorrow. I have to add the plastic edging, but that should be a simple matter of digging a small trench along the mulch-edge to retain the design we created.
The hauling of the mulch was a lot easier than I expected. After I get things evened out and the edging installed, I will take some “after” pictures to show how nice the landscaping looks. I’m proud of doing this ourselves, it saved a lot of money and made a huge difference in the look of my front yard.
My attention now turns to painting… my deck, basement ceiling, and front door beckon. If the weather stays good this week I should get most of that done. After that, my back yard is in sore need of major care… mowing, weeding, painting, poop-scooping… that is going to be a chore.
This to will pass, one step at a time!
