On the car ride to work this morning, I was excited to hear that one of my favorite bands, Oasis, was putting out a new album called “Dig Out Your Soul“. I say they are one of my favorite bands, but it seems that I have been largely unaware of pretty much every album of theirs since “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?”
I was even more excited because the radio station in their infinite wisdom was going to play their new single “The Shock of the Lightning”. The name conjured up images of shreded guitars and awesome driving beats, but I was dismayed to find this was not the case.
Instead, I was greeted with a strangely paced song that consisted of a fairly derivative guitar line. Midway through the song, they entered into an extended period of what sounded like the same set of chords at length. The lyrics weren’t immediately memorable, and I was just generally nonplussed by the whole experience.
The shock of this lightning was 1d6 at best. *sigh*
