I got to the dojo today around 9:00 am to find Sensei Hartman, Mike, Kevin, and Bill doing kata. I threw in with Mike and Sensei Hartman and did a few black belt kata before turning our attentions to some sparring drills.
We did several sets of 3-5 time attack, focusing on absorbing attacks into the back leg and being prepared to counterattack. We elaborated on this drill by having the target throw counterattacks to deter us, I found it very hard to keep attacking when assailed with a variety of punches and kicks. It was a good set of drills, I hope we do more of it in the near future.
It was nice to be back in the dojo again. The extra housework that I had to do was necessary to get my house listed, but it generated a lot of stress that I couldn’t vent in training since I needed that time to paint, repair, and clean the house. It was good to let a lot of that go this morning, hopefully more soon!
