Tonight’s workout was excellent. It all began with a relatively small class consisting of a handful of white and yellow belts, a few brown belts, Sensei Quinn and me. We had a good solid basic class focused on technique and repetition. Things felt relatively good considering my spotty attendance lately.
The second class was just depressing. It was Sensei Quinn, a newer brown belt, and myself. To make the most out of a disappointing turnout, we did a whole class focused on Sochin kata. For those of you new to the mix, Sochin is one of my favorite katas and having Sensei Quinn break it down was extremely beneficial. It ended up being somewhat of a light workout, with a lot of questions and explanations exchanged.
All the talk about Sochin made me reminesce about the year that Matt and I did 2000+ Sochin. I took the opportunity to look up my Sochin notes tag, along with my karate reference tag which contains some kata videos related to my Sochin studies, so check them out if you want either my ramblings about Sochin at the time and some awesome videos of other people that do things better than I.
More soon!
