My ears are still ringing from the Oasis concert! To put it quickly: the first opening act needed some polish, Ryan Adams and The Cardinals were very good, and Oasis rocked the place! They played their new one, Shock of the Lightning (which has grown on me) about three songs in and then made us endure a large measure of songs from their new album and older ones that were lesser known in the U.S. and finally got to some of the good stuff in the last 40 minutes or so.
They did Wonderwall, Don’t Look Back in Anger, and Champaign Supernova (the last two were the encores) and finished up their set with a cover of I Am The Walrus. They were very English and therefore difficult to understand, but at one point Liam dedicated a song “to the memory of John Lennon, the greatest musician ever until me”. Not that he’s conceited or anything!
In all, I think I preferred Noel’s voice to Liam’s… Noel did a more acousticy version of Don’t Look Back in Anger that was very incredible. Liam’s voice was a little nasal and he yelled some of the lyrics a bit too much for me. Their new drummer, Chris Somethingorother, was amazing… probably the best musician up there!
That’s all for now, time to unwnid a bit before bed!
