Today was the first visit to the gym. I started off with a 20 minute ride a recumbant bike, which wasn’t too bad… I did around 4.5 miles or so, I’m not 100% sure what it was total because I did a 7 minute session on “warmup” mode and then did 13 more in their standard ride. I walked a few laps to get some feeling back in my legs and then joined my team lead in the area that contained the weight machines.
We did military press, leg press, lat machine, leg extensions, bench press, and leg curls to finish up the workout. I was able to manage the most weight on the leg press (125 lbs) and lat machine (100 lbs), but I was plenty content to keep the amount of weight low and the number of reps fairly high. We did three sets of 15 reps on each machine, and I was pretty tired (and dehydrated) at the end. A few bottles of water later and I was feeling back to normal… I can’t seem to hit the right amount of water consumption prior to working out.
Anyway, my muscles are tired and a bit stiff already… so we’ll see how tomorrow goes. If I wake up really sore or otherwise blown out, I might not hit karate tomorrow night… finding a balance of what my body can take as I adjust to the altitude and workout schedule is going to be a bit of a trick!
