Tonight I started at the Arvada dojo, which is one of Sensei Yaguchi’s branch dojos. The class consisted of six black belts and a young brown belt, and felt very much like the Mackinaw dojo. It was in the same facility as a dance studio, which was essentially a segmented off warehouse much like the first Mackinaw dojo was.
We did basic combinations, sparring drills, and katas training. We worked specifically on Gankaku and Jitte, then on our individual kata (mine, of course, is Sochin).
The best part about the dojo is the location: only 15 minutes via back-roads from my place instead of 40 in rush hour traffic. That’s going to make it significantly easier to get training in!
