Aw, rats. It seems that I have missed a day of blogging because I was over at my cousin’s house continuing to work on my guitar project.
On Sunday night, we got the guitar disassembled to find no shielding (as expected), cruddy non-insulated wires, and some common wiring mistakes. So we put on the first round of shielding paint and made a shopping list to go get yesterday.
We got some wax coated insulated wiring from a local guitar shop, picked up the hardware as illustrated on this guide, however the only item that we could not find is .33 uf 4ooV capacitors. We ended up having to order those from the Internet on second day shipping, after striking out at every Radio Shack and other electronics store in the area.
Things I’ve found out thus far: its scary and fun to tear up your own stuff. I am not too bad at desoldering stuff, and a week might be too ambitious for a project of this magnitude. We’ll have to see where we’re at by the end of the week, but right now there seems to be a lot to do in very little time.
At least its fun though!
