Last Saturday, Illinois was still receiving quite a bit of snow. I had called the Hollis Park Rec Center to see if anyone from karate had arrived to train and they informed me that nobody had shown yet. This was shortly after class usually starts around 8 am. Satisfied that the weather was going to keep people indoors, I headed back to bed. Roughly 15 minutes later, the text messages started flowing in, indicating that class was going on.
So out of bed, a treacherous 20 minute car ride (or slide) later I was training by 9 am. I was pleased to see John Kraft there, in addition to Tim and Sensei Hartman. We did some basics and I took them through a few combinations that we do out here in the mountains, and then we closed out the workout with some kicking target practice using pads. It wasn’t the worlds most vigorous workout, but it was nice to catch up with the guys.
Fun stuff!
